About Us

With my husband, Will, working most of his working life in the delivery industry and me having spent 10 years working in IT, perhaps it was inevitable that we would end up creating an online home delivery business :-)

We are proud to say that Vegies To Your Door has now been operating in the Canberra area for almost 4 years.  We have always valued providing a superior service and quality produce.  We have a very strong customer service focus - in fact 'it's who we are' - not just our business   We always do our best to exceed your expectations and we guarantee you will be delighted with this service.  We are very easy going and quite flexible when it comes to providing what you need from our service - this is your service and we believe it should operate as much as possible to suit your needs.   

How it started

Well it's a bit of a story - so to cut it short ....

Our youngest son Ryan, now 7yrs, (4yrs at the time) is the absolute inspiration behind Vegies To Your Door.  Ryan has PKU, a genetic disorder that means he is unable to metabolise protein properly in his liver. He is absolutely perfect in every way (says mum and dad) but he is unable to eat an awfully high percentage of the regular foods that you and I take for granted, including meat, dairy and wheat products to name just a few. The amount of protein that Ryan eats needs to be weighed and measured every day.

The basis of Ryan's diet is therefore fresh fruit and vegetables.  It was our search to find the freshest quality fruit and veg available so that they would taste good to him and make his meals as enjoyable as possible, that eventually led us to start Vegies To Your Door.

Not to forget our eldest son Jordan (9), who is also perfect :-)  Jordan, used to be a very fussy vegie eater but now looks forward to his vegies every day.  In fact both my boys often ask me if we can have vegies for dinner - you can imagine how that makes me smile (now I know you think I am lying and it's 'just a sales pitch' - but I am absolutely not - my boys really do love vegies for dinner :).  In fact it stands to reason that when fruit and veg taste sweet and yummy like they should rather than bland and tasteless resulting from lengthy storage times, that our kids will quickly develop a taste for them.  Afterall they are delicious!

About Our Business

Since we buy direct from the wholesale markets, our produce is very fresh (fresher than the supermarkets and fresher than the four day weekend markets) and of the best quality. It is superior to produce purchased at many greengrocers and supermarkets because:

• our produce is not left in cool rooms for up to a week or more before being put on the shelves for sale;
• our produce does not sit out on shop shelves (at room temp) for a day or two waiting for you to buy it;
• it is not constantly handled by the public while it sits on the shelf waiting for you to buy it; and
• it lasts longer because it is fresher and is therefore better value for your money

The wholesale markets in Canberra also supply our regions restaurants. As you can imagine this creates a demand for very fresh, high quality produce. Therefore their truck travel to the Sydney fruit and vegetable markets every day to provide the restaurants with the freshest produce available to them. You too, now have access to this same very fresh, high quality produce.

We personally guarantee the freshness of our fruit and vegetables and if you are not satisfied with an item we will gladly replace that item on your next order free of charge, or refund your credit card for the amount. Please contact us in the unlikely event that you are not completely satisfied and we will work with you to resolve any problem with your order.

We are currently adding more and more products to our website and are making an effort to source these locally in order to promote and support other quality local family businesses.  Our bread is baked fresh every day at National Capital Bakery in Kingston, our coffee is locally roasted and ground at the Fresh Roast Coffee House in Mitchell - with more local products to come.
